1. About Dog Friendly

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of Dog Friendly services.

Dog Friendly is owned and operated by Dog Friendly Oy, a company registered in Finland under Business ID 3590920-6 (“Dog Friendly”).

These Terms apply to:

• the Dog Friendly website, and

• the Dog Friendly mobile application (together referred to as the “Service”).
   

Dog Friendly provides an informational service designed to help people discover places where dogs may be welcome.

The Service currently focuses on venues located in the Helsinki Capital Region, including Helsinki, Espoo, and Vantaa, Finland.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Nature of the Service

Dog Friendly provides informational guidance only. 

The Service is provided solely for general informational purposes and should not be relied upon as definitive or authoritative.
The Service does not constitute legal, regulatory, professional, safety, hygiene, or venue-access advice.

 

Information available through the Service may be based on:

• publicly available sources,

• third-party services (including mapping services such as Google Maps),

• information provided by venues,

• user contributions and observations.

Users assume full responsibility for any decisions made based on information available through the Service. Users acknowledge that all information is provided for convenience only and should be independently verified before relying upon it.

 

3. Venue Status Labels

Dog Friendly uses informational labels solely to indicate how information about a venue has been obtained. These labels are provided for transparency purposes only and do not constitute verification of legal compliance, guarantees, certifications, approvals, or endorsements of any kind. 

 

Dog Friendly does not conduct inspections, audits, site visits, compliance reviews, or independent assessments of listed venues unless expressly stated otherwise.

Dog Friendly Partner

A venue is marked as a "Dog Friendly Partner" when the business has created a Dog Friendly business account through the Service. Dog Friendly Partners may receive access to business features made available by Dog Friendly from time to time, including but not limited to profile management tools, venue editing capabilities, statistics, promotional opportunities, visibility features, social media exposure, newsletter inclusion, and other business-related functionalities. Becoming a Dog Friendly Partner is currently free and can be completed directly through the Dog Friendly mobile application. Participation as a Dog Friendly Partner does not constitute endorsement, certification, guarantee of visibility, guarantee of customer traffic, or any form of commercial partnership unless expressly agreed in writing. 

 

Dog Friendly reserves the right to introduce optional paid business features, premium partner services, advertising products, promotional services, enhanced visibility features, analytics tools, or other paid offerings in the future.

Verified

A venue is marked as "Verified" when Dog Friendly has received direct confirmation from the venue, whether verbally, in writing, by email, social media message, telephone communication, or another direct communication method, indicating that dogs may be permitted at the venue. Verified venues do not receive access to Dog Friendly Partner features unless they separately create a Dog Friendly business account. The term "Verified" refers only to the receipt of information and does not imply independent verification, legal validation, endorsement, certification, or ongoing monitoring.

 

Community Added

A venue is marked as “Community Added” when it has been suggested or added by users or identified through publicly available information, without direct confirmation from the venue. Dog Friendly acts solely as an intermediary platform that displays information from third-party and user-generated sources.​

These labels:

• indicate only the source or method by which information has been obtained,

• do not imply accuracy, completeness, legality, or current validity of the information,

• do not constitute a recommendation, endorsement, or approval of any venue or its practices,

• may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or subject to change at any time.

Dog Friendly does not independently verify all information and makes no representations or warranties regarding:

• whether dogs are permitted at a venue,

• the conditions under which dogs are allowed,

• compliance with applicable laws, regulations, or hygiene requirements,

• the safety, suitability, or practices of any venue.

 

Dog Friendly has no obligation to monitor, validate, or update venue information on an ongoing basis.​ Venues remain solely responsible for their own policies, operations, and compliance with applicable laws. 

Users are solely responsible for verifying all relevant information directly with the venue before visiting and for complying with any applicable rules or requirements.

Users assume full responsibility for any decisions made based on information available through the Service.

Dog Friendly is not responsible for the conduct, policies, compliance, or actions of any listed venue, regardless of how it is labeled.

 

To the fullest extent permitted by Finnish and EU law, Dog Friendly disclaims all liability for any loss, damage, or inconvenience arising from:

• reliance on label classifications,

• inaccuracies or omissions in venue information,

• changes in venue policies or conditions,

• or any interaction with a listed venue.

4. Internet Requirement

An active internet connection is required to use the Dog Friendly website. Venue information, maps, and updates are accessed online and may not be available offline.

Dog Friendly is not responsible for issues caused by connectivity problems, network interruptions, or outages of third-party services.

Dog Friendly does not guarantee uninterrupted, continuous, or error-free availability of the Service.

5. Data Sources and Third-Party Information

Venue information may be sourced from:

• publicly available online information,

• third-party services such as Google Maps,

• user contributions,

• venue-provided information.
   

Dog Friendly does not control third-party data and does not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or availability.

6. Community Contributions

Users may submit or suggest venues.

Dog Friendly does not guarantee the accuracy of community-submitted information and may update or remove content at its discretion.

7. Intended Use

The Service is intended for general informational use.

By using the Service, you agree to:

• use information responsibly,

• verify details directly with venues where necessary,

• comply with applicable laws and venue policies.

 ​

Certain features of the Service may require users or businesses to create an account.

Users and businesses are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and for all activity occurring under their account.

Users and businesses agree to provide accurate information and to keep such information reasonably up to date.

Dog Friendly reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used in a manner that may harm the Service, other users, businesses, or third parties.

8. Use by Dog Owners

If you use the Service as a dog owner, you agree to:

• confirm venue policies before visiting,

• behave responsibly and respectfully with your dog,

• comply with hygiene, safety, and legal requirements,

• ensure your dog is under control at all times.
   

Dog Friendly is not responsible for:

• access decisions made by venues,

• user experiences at venues,

• any consequences arising from visits.

Dog Friendly does not guarantee that a venue will admit a user, their dog, or any accompanying person at any particular time. Access decisions remain solely at the discretion of the venue and may change without notice.

9. Use by Businesses

Businesses may participate in the Service by creating a Dog Friendly business account and becoming a Dog Friendly Partner.

 

Dog Friendly Partners may access business features made available by Dog Friendly from time to time, including but not limited to:

• claiming and managing their venue listing;

• editing business information;

• updating venue descriptions, dog policies, amenities, services, and contact details;

• adding photographs and website or social media links;

• accessing business tools, statistics, and management features where available;

• receiving visibility opportunities through the Dog Friendly platform.

Visibility opportunities may include, but are not limited to:

• featured placement within the Dog Friendly application;

• promotional announcements within the application;

• mentions in Dog Friendly newsletters;

• features on Dog Friendly social media channels;

• other promotional opportunities made available by Dog Friendly from time to time.

 

Participation as a Dog Friendly Partner is currently free of charge.

Dog Friendly reserves the right to introduce optional paid business features, premium services, advertising products, enhanced visibility opportunities, analytics tools, subscriptions, promotional services, or other paid offerings in the future.

Nothing in these Terms creates any agency, franchise, employment, partnership, joint venture, fiduciary relationship, or other legal relationship between Dog Friendly and any business.

Participation as a Dog Friendly Partner does not:

• guarantee visibility, promotion, customer traffic, business results, revenue, or engagement;

• constitute certification, endorsement, recommendation, approval, or verification by Dog Friendly;

• create a commercial agreement unless expressly agreed in writing.

 

Visibility opportunities, promotional activities, featured placements, newsletter mentions, social media exposure, and similar benefits are provided at Dog Friendly's sole discretion and may vary between businesses, locations, campaigns, and time periods.

Businesses remain solely responsible for:

• the accuracy of information they provide;

• compliance with applicable laws and regulations;

• their own business operations, services, products, policies, and customer interactions.

 

Dog Friendly reserves the right to:

• edit, update, reclassify, suspend, restrict, or remove listings;

• modify or discontinue business features;

• update information based on new information, user feedback, or publicly available sources;

• suspend, restrict, or terminate business access where necessary for legal, operational, technical, security, or service-related reasons.

10. Free Use and Future Features

Dog Friendly is currently available free of charge for both dog owners and businesses. Dog Friendly reserves the right to introduce optional paid features, premium services, subscriptions, promotional services, business tools, advertising products, or other paid offerings in the future. Dog Friendly may modify, limit, discontinue, remove, reclassify, or place restrictions on features currently offered free of charge at its sole discretion.

 

Any future paid offerings will be clearly communicated before charges apply and may be subject to additional terms.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, downloading the application, creating an account, and accessing the core functionality of the Service will remain free of charge.  Users and businesses are under no obligation to purchase any future paid features.

11. Intellectual Property

All content, structure, text, design, logos, and functionality of the Dog Friendly website, excluding third-party data and venue-provided content, are the property of Dog Friendly Oy or its licensors.

No rights or licenses are granted to users except as required by law. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or otherwise use website content without prior written permission.

Venue-provided content remains the property of the respective venue or rights holder.

12. Third-Party Services

The Service may rely on third-party providers, including mapping services such as Google Maps.
 

Dog Friendly is not responsible for:

• the accuracy, availability, or content of third-party services.
   

Use of such services is subject to their own terms and policies.

13. Disclaimer

The Dog Friendly website is provided “as is” and “as available.”

While reasonable efforts are made to keep information up to date, Dog Friendly does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the information provided.

 

Use of the website is at your own discretion and risk.

Dog Friendly makes no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, reliability, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Dog Friendly does not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or continuously available.

 

14. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by Finnish and EU law, Dog Friendly is not liable for:

• denied access to venues,

• changes in venue policies,

• reliance on information provided,

• any loss, damage, or inconvenience arising from use of the Service,

• interactions between users, businesses, or third parties.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is not permitted by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence.

15. Changes to the Website or Terms

Dog Friendly may update the website, its features, or these Terms from time to time.

Updated Terms will be published on the website with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the website after changes take effect indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.​​​​

16. Data and Account Deletion 

Users and businesses may delete their account at any time from within the Dog Friendly app by going to Profile → My Account → Delete My Account.

Upon account deletion, Dog Friendly will delete or anonymise the user’s account and associated personal data, except where certain information must be retained where required by law or where necessary for legitimate business purposes, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, security, enforcement of these Terms, technical operation, or compliance with legal obligations.

Users and businesses may also contact Dog Friendly for assistance with account deletion or data-related requests.

 

Dog Friendly reserves the right to:

• delete inactive accounts,

• remove data that is no longer necessary,

• reset, modify, archive, anonymise, or remove user data where necessary for security, operational, technical, legal, regulatory, or service-related reasons.

 

Dog Friendly will make reasonable efforts to preserve user data where appropriate, but does not guarantee the permanent retention, availability, or recoverability of any content, account information, or user-submitted data.

Public venue information submitted by users or businesses may be retained, anonymised, or reassigned where necessary to maintain the accuracy, continuity, and usefulness of the Dog Friendly service.

 

All data handling remains subject to the Privacy Policy.​

17. Suspension and Termination

Dog Friendly reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, where Dog Friendly considers it necessary for security, legal, operational, or service-related reasons.

This may include, but is not limited to, misuse of the Service, violation of these Terms, submission of unlawful or misleading content, or actions that may harm Dog Friendly, other users, businesses, or third parties.

18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland.

Any disputes arising from or related to the use of the website shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Finland. Where applicable, disputes shall be handled by the courts of Finland with jurisdiction over Dog Friendly Oy’s registered office.

19. Indemnification

Users and participating businesses agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dog Friendly Oy from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to:

• their use of the Service,

• any violation of these Terms,

• any information, content, or materials they submit or provide through the Service,

• any infringement of third-party rights (including intellectual property, data protection, or other legal rights),

• any unlawful, misleading, or negligent conduct connected to their use of the Service.

 

For the purposes of these Terms, “participating businesses” refers to businesses that have actively engaged with the Service, including by creating an account, submitting information, or otherwise interacting with Dog Friendly.
